Summary: This dissertation analyses the development of the energy of Hydrogen in Brazil, guided by the perspective of paradigmatic change. In such a perspective, of sustainable development and green economy, a paradigm shift in the energy sector is required. Energy is fundamental for quality life and welfare improvement, however aiming at sustaining economic growth it is necessary a search for new renewable and cleaner sources of energy, alternative to fossil fuels. This search has been intensified all around the world and in such a context energy of Hydrogen has been as an alternative towards the promotion of an economy of low carbon emission. This work provides a broad picture of the energy of Hydrogen development worldwide. Identifies and analyses initiatives for the development of these technologies in Brazil. It points out, as conclusions, that energy from Hydrogen is not included in the Brazilian Government policies for the energy sector. Regarding strategic studies, it’s stressed that important work has been done by the Brazilian Federal Government, especially by the Ministry of Science Technology and Inovation (MCTI), Ministry of Mining and Energy (MME) and the Centre for Strategic Studies (CGEE). Finally, advances main conclusions pointing out both that there is no lack of sources of energy supply in Brazil and that there are multiple options for energy supply when the issue is the “greening” of the energy matrix in the country. However, it is observed in the Brazilian energy planning a passive posture limited to concerns about energy security, risk of "blackout"; shy, so in exploring the huge energy potential that the country has, and what might have as a goal the transformation of Brazil in energyexporting country. Energy of Hydrogen in Brazil is a strategic option that still remains in the level of strategic studies. That pattern is also observed at international level with few exceptions of commercial use. Energy of Hydrogen reveals to be the best technical option for clean energy production, however for its general use it is still required significant advances in its cost production cuts setting investment policies to cheaper equipment, creation of infrastructure for distribution and expansion of demand.
