Summary: The aim of this research is to analyze how the Agricultural Credit Bank of Espírito Santo fostered financing of Espírito Santo agriculture. Firstly, we pondered what measures adopted by the Federal and State Government in the First Republic period helped the progress of the Brazilian agro-exporting economy and the state of Espírito Santo, guided by the export of coffee. We will analyze how the national coffee valorization policies adopted in the period affected the Holy Spirit and what measures were adopted by the state to promote local coffee. We will therefore address the problem of financing coffee production in the First Republic and, subsequently, how this agricultural financing was articulated between 1937-1945. In this way, we will discuss how the Agricultural Credit Bank's operations promoted the financing of the Capixaba agriculture and if, in any way, it contributed to decrease its dependence on the other commercial squares.
